Re: Lumsden Model Dwelling, 13 Roslin Place, St George's Cro

Apparently, they were not just for working men. Some people, who could afford the small cost, stayed there in preference to having to stay at the poorhouse.

Re: Littlewoods

I just remembered (I think) the name of the music shop. Cuthbertsons. It was entered from Cambridge Street, then down a short staircase and was a basement shop. It was also accessible from Littlewoods, as I said earlier.

Re: Smith & McLean Galvanisers

Have you contacted the Mitchell Library? They hold some employment records in their archive and the University also has records from some Glasgow firms.

Big fire?

Looks like a big fire over Drumchapel direction? Big black clouds of smoke.

Anyone know anything about this?

Re: Coat of Arms at 27 Paisley Road West

No progress yet on this subject. I decided to forego the Mitchell and contact GCC and ask them if they knew anything. Got a reply back - contact the archives - that's right, the Mitchell. Going round in circles now. One suggestion by the staff at the Mitchell was to try to find out who the fa...

Re: Flagpoles at Anniesland X

Does anyone know if the building has been sold?

Paddy Power is moving in to the shops and the building seems to be getting a proper makeover, roof being fixed, etc.

Re: Part time policing?

Speaking of decentralisation... I witnessed an accident and called for an ambulance. I was asked for a description of the victim , age, gender - was he conscious, able to speak, etc. I told them it looked like he may have a serious head injury. Only then I was asked for the location (should have bee...
