The HIDDEN GLASGOW Contribution
Look! There it isn't.
This guided tour takes to the river for 2005, with
a 'Look, There It Isn't' theme on the Clyde. Members
of the Hidden Glasgow organisation will guide you to
look beyond the new buildings to see what used to be
in their place on the banks. Absent icons or just nostalgia?
Judge for yourself.

Sound Walk
One of the most prevalent and overwhelming textures
of the modern city is sound. In the course of this evening
walk, you can endeavour to chart some of the more unusual
and overlooked aural delights the city has to offer.
Each member of the tour will have the chance to lead
the others in a search for the source of the sound of
their choice.

City of the Dead
Come Roamin' in the Gloamin' in the atmospheric Glasgow
Necropolis, where just about every significant architect
of the Victorian era designed a monument to those who
made Glasgow the Second City of the British Empire.
Hear the stories behind the stones from historian Ronnie
Scott, author of 'Death by Design: The True Story of
the Glasgow Necropolis' and founding chairman of The
Friends of Glasgow Necropolis. For the full twilight
effect, bring a torch and a candle...and expect a surprise!

From
the Cathedral to the Clyde
Historian Ronnie Scott invites you to take a wander
along the spine of old Glasgow from the Cathedral, where
St Mungo founded a religious settlement 1500 years ago,
down the venerable High Street, past Glasgow Cross and
on to the River Clyde, where a fishing and trading community
first flourished at least as long ago. Hear the intriguing
history of public health in this city, which has consistently
pioneered ways of improving its citizens' quality of
life, often through the built environment, by better
housing, cleaner water and proper sewers.
Sponsored by Glasgow Centre for Population Health,
which has published a booklet to accompany this tour.
